Officers of the Regional Office of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau in Kraków detained former appellate prosecutor and his daughter, in connection with invoking influence in state institutions. The investigation is supervised by Masovian Branch of the Department for Organized Crime and Corruption of the National Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw.

Invoking non-existent influence in state institutions

Officers of the Regional Office of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau in Kraków conduct the investigation under the supervision of the Masovian Branch of the Department for Organized Crime and Corruption of the National Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw.

The ongoing preparatory proceedings concern invoking influence in courts and prosecutor's offices throughout the country in the years 2021-2023 in Warsaw. The collected evidence material indicates that the former appellate prosecutor created the belief in the existence of such influence in order to obtain favorable decisions in ongoing civil and criminal cases. The suspect misled a number of people about being a lawyer or legal advisor and used a law firm run by his daughter for this purpose.

Charges for defrauding a number of people

The evidence material collected in the preparatory proceedings shows that the suspects led to the unfavorable disposal of property of significant value to the detriment of a number of people in an amount not less than PLN 800,000.00.

On November 7, 2023, based on the Prosecutor's decision, officers of the Regional Office of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau detained two people in the Lublin Voivodeship. Searches were carried out at the suspects' place of residence in order to secure material evidence that may be important in the investigation. The suspects were brought to the Masovian Branch of the Department for Organized Crime and Corruption of the National Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw, where they faced a number of charges under Art. 230 CC, Art. 286 CC and other.

Isolating preventive measure applied

The court applied an isolating preventive measure to the suspects in the form of pre-trial detention for a period of three months, as requested by the Prosecutor

An appeal to the aggrieved

The Central Anti-Corruption Bureau together with the Masovian Branch of the Department for Organized Crime and Corruption of the National Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw appeals to all people harmed by the suspects in this case to come forward.
