Internal Security Fund

Internal Security Fund 2014-2020 includes two basic elements:

  1. Instrument for financial support for external borders and visas
  2. Instrument for financial support for police cooperation, preventing and combating crime, and crisis management.

Instrument for financial support for external borders and visas:

According to the Regulation (EU) No 515/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16 April 2014 the primary is to establish, as part of the Internal Security Fund, the instrument for financial support for external borders, visa and repealing Decision No 574/2007/EC and to contribute to high level of security in the European Union while facilitating legitimate travel thanks to the uniform and high-level external border control and thanks to the effective processing of Schengen visa applications, in accordance with European Union’s commitment to respect fundamental freedoms and human rights.

Instrument for financial support for police cooperation, preventing and combating crime, and crisis management

The primary objective of the Instrument, according to the Regulation (EU) No 515/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16 April 2014 establishing, as part of the Internal Security Fund, the instrument for police cooperation, preventing and combating crime, crisis management and repealing Council Decision 2007/125/JHA is to contribute to guarantee a high level of security in the European Union.

The key objective consists of the following specific objectives:

  • Crime prevention, combating serious and organized cross-border crime including terrorism and strengthening coordination, reinforcing cooperation between EU national law enforcement authorities, relevant EU bodies, such as EUROPOL, and non-EU and international organizations;
  • Enhance the EU capacity to manage effectively security-related risk maintain crisis management, and protect people and critical infrastructure against terrorist attacks and other security incidents.

Total project value: 346 523,00 PLN

Implementation period: 01.01.2021 – 31.12.2022

 

The main goal of the project is increasing access to products and services of other EU special forces and creating a technical base for development activities of data processing and analysis technology in the area of criminal and strategic analysis for the Central Anticorruption Bureau officers, and also increasing participation and efficiency of the CBA in prevention and combating economic crime, including improved detectability of international linkages in cases handled by the Bureau.
