Corruption charges for Deputy Marshal of the Silesian Voivodship
Officers from the Regional Office of the CBA in Katowice detained Bartłomiej S. - Deputy Marshal of the Silesian Voivodship.
On 23 October 2024, officers from the Regional Office of the CBA in Katowice detained Bartłomiej S. - Deputy Marshal of the Silesian Voivodship, a long-time local government official, former Deputy Mayor of Częstochowa. The man was brought to the Silesian Branch of the Department for Organised Crime and Corruption of the National Prosecutor’s Office in Katowice, where he was charged with two corruption charges. They concern accepting financial benefits in connection with his functions as Deputy Marshal of the Silesian Voivodship and Deputy Mayor of Częstochowa (art. 228 § 1 and 4 of the Penal Code).
The prosecutor applied to the court for a preventive measure in the form of temporary arrest for a period of three months.
Corruption charges were also brought against three other persons in the ongoing investigation. The Prosecutor applied custodial preventive measures against them.
