Vogt detained for bribes
The CBA officers detained a Vogt of one of municipalities of Podkarpacie dealing in the roads sector. The investigation concerns bribes in exchange for contracting renovation works and giving employment in the office.
In the course of the CBA investigation it was found that the Vogt of the Ostrów Municipality repeatedly abused his powers acting to the detriment of the public interest by infringing the Public Procurement Law through rigging the contracts.
Moreover, the CBA’s findings show that the Vogt gave employment in the office in exchange for bribes. It was established that once he accepted PLN 5,000, on another occasion it was PLN 2000.
The CBA officers searched almost 40 premises: dwellings, accounting offices, premises of the municipality office, offices of companies and hotels. They secured documentation in the form of agreements, invoices, official letters, as well as telephones, computers and data carriers. The activities were carried out mainly in the Podkarpackie Voivodship, but also in Warsaw, Kraków, and Zakopane.
The Vogt and two other persons were detained on charges of corruption. The Prosecutor's Office applied Police surveillance, ban on leaving the country, surety in the amount of PLN 20,000, and suspension from office against the Vogt.
The investigation has been conducted by the Regional Office of the CBA in Rzeszów, under the supervision of the Podkarpacki Field Division of the Organised Crime and Corruption Department in Rzeszów.
