Assets Secured from Two Suspects
The Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Rzeszów has issued orders for the securing of assets belonging to two suspects in an investigation conducted by the Central Anticorruption Bureau. The asset seizures are intended to secure compensation for the damage caused to the Polish National Foundation by its former Management Board members.
Investigation by the CBA Rzeszów Delegation
The Regional Office of the CBA in Rzeszów, under the supervision of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Rzeszów, is conducting an investigation into the abuse of powers and failure to perform duties by members of the Management Board of the Polish National Foundation. Their actions resulted in substantial financial damage to the Polish National Foundation, amounting to at least PLN 8 million.
The evidence gathered indicates that, while implementing the “Fair Courts” media campaign, representatives of the Foundation spent funds in a manner inconsistent with the purposes set out in its statutes. The project did not serve the interests of the organisation, directly resulting in the aforementioned financial loss of more than PLN 8 million.
Order to Secure Assets
In order to secure an amount corresponding to the value of the damage, CBA officers, in cooperation with the prosecutor’s office, took steps to identify the suspects’ assets.
The evidence gathered by CBA provided grounds for issuing, on 14 July 2026, an order to secure the assets of suspect Maciej Ś. This involved the seizure of claims from a bank account up to the amount of PLN 200,000, as well as the establishment of a compulsory mortgage in the amount of PLN 1 million on a developed plot of land co-owned by the suspect. The authorities also seized income derived from his employment at the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT), up to the amount of PLN 5 million.
In the case of the second suspect, Cezary J., the assets were secured by establishing a compulsory mortgage in the amount of PLN 2 million on a developed plot of land co-owned by the suspect.
The suspects, former members of the Management Board of the Polish National Foundation, were detained on 14 July 2026 by officers of the Regional Office of the CBA in Rzeszów Delegation.
The asset security measures, resulting from official activities carried out by CBA officers, are intended to secure compensation for the damage caused to the Polish National Foundation by its former Management Board members.
