An attorney at law detained and arrested
He offered to influence a favourable court decision in exchange for a bribe - PLN 30 thousand. He was detained by the CBA officers as a result of a special operation. Money was found in his safe.
The Regional Office of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau in Gdańsk has been carrying out an investigation into trading in influence by an attorney at law, in the District Court in Elbląg, and offering to obtain a favourable decision in the civil law proceedings pending before the court in exchange for a financial advantage in the amount of PLN 30 thousand for the judge and the lay judges of this court.
The attorney at law from Ostróda offered to mediate while running the errand, including forwarding the financial advantage. The CBA investigators have established that he did not intend to share the money with the persons he pleaded.
The CBA prepared a sting operation of giving a bribe to the attorney. In his law firm safe they found the money which he had accepted in exchange for his activities by which he breached the law. The attorney at law was detained by the CBA officers from Gdańsk.
The Prosecutor from the Field Division of the National Public Prosecutor’s Office in Gdańsk requested the Gdańsk-Południe (South Gdańsk) Regional Court in Gdańsk to apply a temporary arrest against the attorney.
By order of the court, a preventive measure in the form of a conditional temporary arrest for 3 months has been applied against the suspect.
