CENTRAL ANTI-CORRUPTION BUREAU always in the interest of Poland Detained mayor of Połaniec and head of the environmental protection fund - News -

The president of the Management Board of the Provincial Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Kielce is suspected, among others, for abuse powers of a public official in order to gain financial benefit, for claiming to have influences in the local government and the state institution, and for mediation in settling matters in those institutions - in return for a financial benefit. The investigators say that the Mayor of the City and Commune of Połaniec abused the powers of a public official in order to obtain financial benefits, including organizing and conducting a tender in violation of the provisions of the law on real estate management. Former SSE bosses (Special Economic Zone) are suspected of abusing the authority of a public official in order to obtain financial benefits. The businessman is accused of offering the former deputy, financial benefits in return for settling certain matters in state and local government institutions.

Real estate owned by the commune of Połaniec was to be taken over by a company managed by the businessman and included in the Special Economic Zone of Starachowice S.A. Thanks to that, it was possible to gain additional benefits from belonging to the zone itself, and also to finance investments in ecological energy sources.

Investigated events took place between 2013 and 2015.

The investigation, under the supervision of Małopolska Terrain Division of Department for  Organized Crime and Corruption of the National Prosecutor's Office, is conducted by the Regional Office of the CBA in Łódź.
