6 detainees. Millionth KGHM losses
Over 4 million zł losses of a company from the KGHM Group on the supply of counterfeit copper scrap. Detained businessmen and employees of the copper company. In exchange for financial benefits the samples were swapped out and qualitative analyzes of the purchased commodity were trumped up.
The officers of the CBA Regional Office in Lublin detained six persons: entrepreneurs and employees from the KGHM Polska Miedź SA Capital Group. The detentions were carried out in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie and Dolnośląskie voivodships, implementing the decisions of the District Prosecutor's Office in Legnica.
The findings of the investigation indicate that the detainees, in order to obtain financial benefit, have brought one of the companies from the KGHM Polska Miedź SA Capital Group to an unfavorable disposal of property and losses in the amount of at least 4 million zł. This money was a payment for copper chips and granules. At the purchase, the percentage of copper itself in the supply of scrap was overstated by swapping out samples that are the basis for estimating the value of the purchased goods. Such dealings were to be continued for at least eight months in 2017.
The CBA agents searched the detainees' flats and workplaces. Businessmen and employees of the copper company will be charged in the District Prosecutor's Office in Legnica.
The operation is the result of an investigation conducted by the Regional Office of the Central Anticorruption Bureau in Lublin on the basis of own materials.
