Three persons detained for corruption
Bribes at tenders for real estates in the center of Krakow. Three more persons detained by the CBA.
The officers of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau in Krakow have detained three persons involved in a corruption practice connected with tenders for renting and selling real estate in Krakow. Among the detainees are: a doctor, an entrepreneur and an employee of a restaurant. The investigation concerns invoking influences, among others in local government administration and in the Municipal Housing Administration in Krakow and taking up unlawful intermediation in arranging the lease or purchase of real estate located in attractive parts of Krakow, near the market square or the Wawel Hill. The events occurred in the years 2015-2017. At the present stage of the investigation, the case concerns "settling", in exchange for bribes, winning tenders or auctions for the sale or rental of 42 properties, including commercial premises, flats and entire tenements.
Two of the detained persons will be transferred to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Krakow, where they will be charged with corruption. The doctor will hear allegations of attesting untruth in medical certificates. On the other hand, the employee of the restaurant will be also charged with providing false testimony. The entrepreneur was detained on Thursday. In the Prosecutor’s Office, he was charged with corruption and non-custodial preventive measures were ordered against him.
The first detentions in this investigation took place in February 2018. Until now 15 persons were charged in this case, three of them exercised the so-called impunity clause.
