Another detainee in the so-called Podkarpackie scandal. It is about the purchase of a heat and power plant in the Rzeszów region
Agents of the Regional Office of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau in Katowice are conducting a multi-thread investigation under the supervision of the Terrain Division of the National Prosecutor's Office in Katowice. As part of the proceedings, the purchase in 2010 of Elektrociepłownia Przeworsk (Przeworsk heat and power plant) for PLN 22 million by PGE Energia Odnawialna S.A. (PGE Renewable Energy) is being investigated. Previously, the owner of the facility was a company that purchased buildings for PLN 2.5 million.
As it has been determined by the investigators, the transaction had no economic basis. The purchased equipment had very low efficiency, high failure rate and was not suitable for continuous operation. From the moment of purchase it was not put into use and its value right after the purchase was estimated as the value of scrap metal.
In connection with this case, the officers of the CBA detained today an entrepreneur from Przeworsk. The man will hear allegations the Prosecutor’s Office connected with money laundering assistance.
Earlier, the Prosecutor's Office charged in this case 12 persons.
