New charges against former employees of Chemical Plants (Grupa Azoty)
Further individuals from Police Chemical Plants (Grupa Azoty Zakłady Chemiczne Police S.A.) faced charges, including a large-scale fraud and mismanagement, in connection with the purchase of shares in the Senegalese company of the African Investment Group.
The multi-threaded investigation conducted by the CBA Regional Office in Szczecin involves an investment decision on the purchase of a company that was to exploit an open-cast phosphate mine in Senegal, causing a huge property damage incurred by Police Chemical Plants, criminal offences against essential economic interest of the State, and obstruction of criminal proceedings.
The investigators have established that the activities performed by the members of the former Management Board of the Chemical Plants consisted in providing the Polish Financial Supervision Authority with false information about the execution of obligations imposed on a public company, manipulation of the shares of the Chemical Plants (Grupa Azoty Zakłady Chemiczne Police S.A.) within the meaning of the Act on Trading in Financial Instruments, and fraud in the acquisition of shares of the African Investment Group by Police Chemical Plants.
The Regional Prosecutor's Office in Szczecin has applied non-custodial preventive measures against the suspects, in the form of a bail bond, a ban on leaving the country, and a ban on contacting persons involved in the investigation.
