A former judge detained by the CBA

The officers of the Regional Office of the Central Anti-Corruption in Rzeszów have detained a former judge of the District Court in Przemyśl, suspected of accepting a financial advantage. The activities were carried out after the Disciplinary Chamber of the Supreme Court heard the complaint against the resolution of the Court of Appeal in Warsaw, regarding the consent to detain the judge and remand him in custody.

The detainee was escorted to the Division of Internal Affairs of the National Prosecutor's Office, where he was presented with charges. According to the evidence gathered in the case, the judge accepted a financial advantage in the amount of PLN 100 thousand in exchange for a favourable decision on the criminal case of an entrepreneur operating in Podkarpacie.

So far, four individuals have been charged, and against two of them the court, at the prosecutor’s request, has applied a preventive measure in the form of pre-trial detention.
