The mayor of Biskupiec and the chairman of the municipal company have been charged. They allegedly exposed the company to losses of nearly PLN 9 million.

The investigation conducted by the CBA Regional Office in Białystok and the District Prosecutor's Office in Olsztyn has ended with an indictment.

The prosecutor filed the indictment against the Mayor of Biskupiec and the President of the Management Board of the Water Supply and Sewage Company in Biskupiec (PWiK) with the Regional Court in Olsztyn. The investigation in this case were conducted by the officers of the CBA Regional Office in Białystok.

The evidence gathered in the course of the investigation showed that the Mayor of Biskupiec and the President of the Management Board of the Water Supply and Sewerage Company in Biskupiec, as persons responsible for handling the property issues of the PWiK company in Biskupiec during the preparation of the investment and then the conclusion of the agreement of sale of plots of land to the investor on 4 April 2017, did not fulfil their obligation in connection with the change of the land development plan and did not reassess the value of part of the plots of land brought to the company as a contribution in kind. It has also been established that during the sale to the investor they did not include part of the VAT tax and other costs in the price, thus causing damage to the company's property in the amount of nearly PLN 9 million.

The proceedings are the result of the inspections carried out in the Municipal Office and the Water Supply and Sewage Company in Biskupiec by the officers of Control Proceedings Department of the CBA Regional Office in Białystok. The inspections mainly covered the disposal of municipal assets by the Municipal Office in Biskupiec, e.g. in connection with the sale of municipal property without a tender via PWiK in Biskupiec.
