Former head of National Centre for Research and Development in custody
Former head of the National Centre for Research and Development was detained by the CBA and remanded in custody for two months.
He was detained over allegations of acceptance of a financial advantage of a substantial value in exchange for financial support assigned for companies from public funds.The court also decided that another of the three persons detained by the CBA would serve the same period in remand, i.e. a member of management and supervisory boards of numerous companies.
The officers of the CBA’s Regional Office in Rzeszów detained a former head of the National Centre for Research and Development and two other persons. The case pertains to granting financial support in 2015, including support from EU funds, by the Centre for the benefit of the companies in the management of which sat one of the detained persons. The allegations also covered corruption.
The former head of the National Centre for Research and Development was detained over allegations of acceptance of a financial advantage of a substantial value in exchange for financial support assigned for companies from public funds. The other suspected businessman was charged with providing a financial advantage of a substantial value to the Centre’s director. The third person was charged with providing a financial advantage to a person performing a public function. The prosecutor applied a property surety in the amount of PLN 20 thousand against him, and a ban on leaving the country.
Simultaneously, the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau’s officers entered over 20 premises all over Poland, including the National Centre for Research and Development.
The investigation into accepting financial advantages by persons performing public functions at the National Centre for Research and Development, influence peddling, and mediation in order to take favourable administrative decisions by public institutions and local governments in exchange for financial advantages is carried out by the Mazovian Field Division of the Organised Crime and Corruption Department of the National Public Prosecutor’s Office, together with the CBA’s officers from Rzeszów.
