Local taxes in Istebna in the CBA attention
Inspection of tax exemptions, reliefs and preferences in the Istebna Commune ended with a notification to the prosecutor's office.
The officers of the Control Proceedings Unit of the CBA Regional Office in Katowice inspected the Commune Office in Istebna. The proceedings lasted from 11 May 2020 to 9 February 2021. The inspectors examined, among other things, the correctness of the implementation of decisions on tax exemptions, reliefs and preferences due to real estate tax, issued in the years 2013-2019.
As a result of the audit, it was established that the tax authority, which in this case was the head of the commune, had committed numerous irregularities related to the determination of the property tax assessment. This, in turn, caused a situation in which several hundred properties were not subject to the due tax. The amount of the loss revealed in the course of the audit exceeded PLN 1.6 million in the years 2013-2018, out of which at least PLN 300 thousand had become statute-barred.
Following the inspection, the Bureau sent a notice to the District Prosecutor's Office in Bielsko-Biała and a post-inspection letter to the Istebna Commune Office.
