Joint action of the CBA and the Police - 5 persons detained
Bribes for favourable settlements of administrative matters. Five persons have been detained by the CBA and the Police in a joint operation under the supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office in Kraków. Among the detainees are the President and a Director of the Kraków Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and a former deputy mayor of Kraków.
The officers of the CBA Regional Office in Kraków in cooperation with the Unit for Fighting Corruption of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Kraków have been conducting an investigation into, among others, abuse of power and acceptance of financial gain by a person holding a public office. The investigation has been supervised by the District Prosecution Office in Kraków.
The findings to date, the gathered evidence and its analysis have allowed the detention of five persons who, following the completion of procedural activities, will be presented with corruption charges covering the years 2018-2019. The detainees include the former deputy mayor of the City of Krakow, the President and Director of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Krakow, the former director of the Spatial Planning Department of the Municipal Office of Kraków, and the Deputy Director of the City of Kraków Road Administration.
The evidence obtained by the investigators indicates that the former deputy mayor of the City of Kraków used her influence in various departments of the Kraków magistrate so that the employees of these offices would issue favourable decisions for the developers serviced by a particular private company.
This is the first operation within this investigation. Further procedural activities are being planned.
