The mayor of Murowana Goślina heard the charges. On Tuesday, he was detained by the CBA.
Seven persons, including the mayor of Murowana Goślina, heard charges in the investigation conducted by the CBA and the Wielkopolski Field Division of the Department for Organized Crime and Corruption at the National Prosecutor's Office in Poznań.
The investigation was carried out by the officers of the CBA Regional Office in Poznań, under the supervision of the Field Division of the Department for Organized Crime and Corruption at the National Prosecutor's Office in Poznań. The proceedings concerned, among others, exceeding powers by the mayor and subordinate officials of the local government of Murowana Goślina.
On Tuesday, the CBA officers detained seven individuals, including the Mayor of Murowana Goślina, commune officials subordinate to him, and some entrepreneurs. At the same time, the officers searched the Municipal and Commune Office in Murowana Goślina, the Social Welfare Centre, the Public Library, one of the commune companies, and the detainees' places of residence and business activities. The detainees faced charges in the Prosecutor's Office. A request for temporary custody for 3 months was filed against the mayor.
According to the investigation findings, the mayor committed corruption offences consisting in accepting financial advantages in exchange for commissioning services financed from the commune budget. As it was established, private entrepreneurs participated in the practice. Other offences he was charged with included abuse of power, inciting to issue a document attesting an untruth, breach of secrecy of pending proceedings and concealment of income in the asset declaration.
