Detentions and charges in connection with tender collusion
Six persons have been detained by the CBA in connection with possible irregularities in tenders arranged in the Regional Divisions of the Military Property Agency across the country. A seventh person has received a summons to appear in the prosecutor's office. Charges of tender collusion have been pressed against all of them. The CBA officers anticipate further developments in this case.
Six entrepreneurs were detained by the CBA officers in connection with a new investigation conducted by the CBA Regional Office in Poznań under the supervision of the Military Affairs Division of the Regional Public Prosecutor's Office in Poznań. The activities were conducted in the following voivodships: Pomorskie, Kujawsko-Pomorskie, Mazowieckie and Śląskie. Additionally, one person received a summons to appear in the prosecutor's office.
All persons were charged with tender collusion. The prosecutor applied non-custodial preventive measures against the suspects.
The investigation concerns tender collusion in public tenders for the sale of unlicensed movable property and waste, arranged by Regional Divisions of the Military Property Agency. The investigation has a nationwide range. The practice was traced by the CBA officers and soldiers of the Military Gendarmerie.
In the course of the activities, a number of irregularities connected with influencing the results of the tenders were revealed. The evidence indicates that several entrepreneurs operating in the scrap and waste trading sector colluded in tenders for financial gain. The criminal activity concerned tenders arranged as auctions for the sale of property, held by Regional Divisions of the Military Property Agency. They aimed at purchasing property at minimum starting prices and then resale it at a profit. Thus, the detainees acted to the detriment of other persons and the State Treasury. The estimated value of the tenders verified so far amounts to over half a million zlotys.
While searching the places of the suspects' business activities, the CBA officers secured documentation essential for the conducted proceedings, electronic data carriers and property worth over PLN 100 thousand, EUR 2.8 thousand and USD 12 thousand.
The investigators do not eliminate the possibility of further detentions.
