International Anti-Corruption Day

9 December marks International Anti-Corruption Day. It was established by the UN General Assembly in October 2003. The date was chosen to commemorate the ratification of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption, which entered into force in December 2005.

The CBA carries out a number of preventive and educational activities in cooperation with national and international institutions.

This year, the Head of the CBA Andrzej Stróżny has taken the initiative to sign letters of intent on cooperation with a number of universities. This undertaking is aimed at developing and strengthening ethical and civic attitudes among future graduates. Plans for this include the organisation of training courses to raise awareness of the phenomenon of corruption and the shaping of appropriate patterns of behaviour, as well as the professional development and empowerment of students.

So far, cooperation has been established with over a dozen universities, including the University of Białystok, the Catholic University of Lublin, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, the University of Warsaw, the Jagiellonian University, the AGH University of Science and Technology, Krakow University of Technology, the University of Silesia, the University of Rzeszów, the Warsaw University of Technology the Silesian University of Technology, the Białystok University of Technology, Gdańsk University of Technology, Rzeszów University of Technology, the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin, Wrocław University of Economics and the Military University of Technology.

The CBA has already started the planned series of meetings by holding a training seminar for fifth-year students of the Military University of Technology. Further meetings are planned.

The CBA also conducts anti-corruption training courses, among others for public administration employees, which have so far been attended by over 65,000 people in full-time form. On the other hand, more than 360,000 training courses have already been completed in e-learning form.

Representatives of the CBA, within the framework of their tasks, also cooperate with international institutions, including participation in meetings, workshops, study visits or conferences strengthening the existing cooperation and exchange of information in the area of combating and preventing corruption.

This year, the Bureau has also organised the LEAF 2022 International Conference, which brought together experts from different regions of Poland and Europe, representatives of services, academia and independent experts. During the three days, 23 lectures were held, attended by nearly 500 participants, in a desktop and online format. The conference was an important part of a project co-financed by Norwegian funds, which aims to strengthen international cooperation.

We recommend the CBA training platform.
