Caught distributing fraudulent invoices

Officers of the CBA Regional Office in Poznań have detained another person linked to an investigation into the issuing of blank VAT invoices for electronics and transport services. The detained man was involved in the 'distribution' of counterfeit invoices to entrepreneurs in the Wielkopolska region.

650 VAT invoices worth over PLN 10 million in total

The first operations were carried out by the CBA officers in the autumn of 2020. It was then that a 42-year-old entrepreneur from the Wielkopolska region was detained, who had issued over 650 VAT invoices with a total value of over PLN 10 million. The financial documents were invoiced to sole traders, companies and service and commercial enterprises. The invoices were for services in the field of vehicle and machine repairs and the sale of electronics. The documents did not reflect real business transactions and were only used to reduce the VAT due.

PLN 1 million returned to the state budget

As part of the investigation, charges were brought against 22 people who used unreliable invoices to settle accounts with the tax authorities. The contractors of the detained entrepreneur corrected their tax declarations and paid due tax liabilities. Approximately PLN 1 million was returned to the state treasury as unfairly reduced taxes.

Another person detained

In February this year, officers of the CBA Regional Office in Poznań detained another person suspected of entering inaccurate VAT invoices into economic circulation. This time, the detained man was involved in the 'distribution' of blank invoices to persons conducting business activities. The investigation was carried out by officers of the CBA Regional Office in Poznań under the supervision of the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Poznań. The detainee faced prosecution charges including passing on to agreed persons fraudulent invoices which were used to reduce due tax liabilities. The prosecutor applied police supervision and a bailout against the man.

The case is developing.
