Serious fraudulent practices of the Łódź Geodesy Centre’s employee
Officers of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau detained the employee of the Łódź Geodesy Centre, who unlawfully obtained, then sold (or tried to sell) data bases of properties in Łódź. The man has been temporarily arrested. The investigation is overseen by the Łódź District Prosecutor’s Office.
Officers of the Regional Office of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau in Łódź are conducting multithreaded investigation into fraudulent practices and accepting financial benefits.
200,000 Data Base Excerpts of Properties in Łódź
The findings indicate that in the years 2021-2023 one of the officials of Łódź Geodesy Centre (ŁOG) transferred to unauthorised persons, for a fee, information and data collected and processed by the ŁOG in computer data systems, including land and mortgage book numbers, plot numbers, property addresses from all geodetic districts in Łódź. According to the findings of CBA officers, the database could contain 200,000 entries. The information coming from the data bases was sold by the man to, among others, business entities operating in the real estate sector.
Additionally, the employee illegally issued excerpts from the property register. In exchange, he received financial benefits, as well as gratuities in the form of alcohol and gift cards.
Documentation, Cash and Chemical Substances
As part of the investigation, officers of the Regional Office of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau in Łódź carried out procedural actions with regard to over a dozen persons who were involved in the case. In cooperation with officers of the Regional Office of the CBA from Warsaw, Białystok, Lublin and Poznań, searches were conducted at their places of residence and employment.
In the course of the conducted proceedings, CBA officers secured data carriers, paper and electronic documentation, disclosed cash in the amount of PLN 600,000 and 300 packages of pharmaceutical substances of unknown origin and chemical composition. The value of the secured property is estimated at approximately PLN 800,000.
CBA officers detained the employee of the Łódź Geodesy Centre, who was brought to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Łódź. The man was charged of obtaining a financial advantage in relation to the performance of a public function.
Preventive Measures Applied
At the request of the Prosecutor overseeing the investigation, The Dictrict Court for Łódź-Śródmieście in Łódź applied preventive measures against the suspect in the form of temporary arrest for a period of three months.
