They did tender rigging for 20 mln PLN of meteorological equipment for airports

Agents of the CBA revealed tender rigging of purchasing by the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) meteorological measurement systems for 7 Polish civil airports. The value of the order exceeds 20 million PLN. Professor and director of the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management were charged.

CBA officers from Wrocław revealed the illegal actions in tender for the design, supply, installation and launching of meteorological measurements systems AWOS (Automated Weather Observation System) at airports in Katowice, Kraków, Wrocław, Rzeszow, Łódź, Szczecin and Gdańsk. These systems serve to cover meteorological airports - to give current information about the weather, visibility, clouds, which are necessary to assess the feasibility of landing by pilots.

All documentation and the gathered evidence indicate that the IMGW constructed the order in such a way to prefer only one foreign contractor. Charges of bid rigging were brought to the Chairman of the Scientific Council of the IMGW prof. dr. Janusz Z. and dr. Rafał B. deputy director of IMGW.

The findings were made in the investigation conducted by the Regional Office of the CBA in Wrocław under the supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office in Ostrołęka. The Prosecutor applied preventive measures in the form of suspension of business of dr. Rafał B.

The investigation is in process, enlargement of the list of charges and other suspects is not ruled out.
