Civil servants detained
The officers of the Regional Office of the CBA in Białystok detained former director of the municipal management enterprise in Łomża and former manager of Czartoria landfill. They received 35 thousand tonnes of waste at depressed charges. Łomża suffered a loss of PLN 13 million.
The officers of the Regional Office of the CBA in Białystok detained former director of the Municipal Management and Housing Budget Division in Łomża and former manager of the Czartoria Treatment and Disposal of Waste Plant in Miastkowo.
The investigators established that the civil servants acted jointly and in concert, causing a loss of significant value in the property of Łomża, amounting to PLN 13 million in total.
In 2011 and 2012, agreements with external companies were concluded to render services of the storage and disposal of waste at depressed charges by which they acted for the purpose of obtaining a financial advantage by these companies, to the detriment of their own enterprises and the town of Łomża. More than 35 tonnes of waste were accepted for the storage at depressed charges from two companies. The activities and the abuse of powers by the director and the manager resulted in multimillion penalties imposed on the Municipal Management and Housing Enterprise.
The District Prosecutor's Office in Łomża brought charges against the detained persons.
