"SIENA for Anti-Corruption Authorities (S4ACA)"
The CBA, Austrian BAK and Europol in the joint venture on the development of Secure Information Exchange Application (SIENA)
The CBA together with the Austrian Federal Bureau of Anti-Corruption (BAK) and the associated partner – Europol, implemented the project "SIENA for Anti-Corruption Authorities (S4ACA)," which was co-financed from the EU Programme "Prevention of and Fight against Crime 2007-2013 '(ISEC).
The main objective of the project was to promote and develop cooperation and mutual understanding among law enforcement agencies, other anti-corruption authorities and Europol. The first priority of the project was to increase the exchange of information through the secure information exchange network application of Europol, among others, by initiating the extension and use of the application SIENA (Secure Information Exchange Network Application) between anti-corruption authorities of the Member States. As a result of the project the CBA gained access to SIENA, among others, thanks to the cooperation with the Polish Police.
The project also aimed at raising awareness of the need to have a secure data and information exchange between anti-corruption bodies and to enable organizations to identify the necessary technical and legal requirements, so that they are prepared to use the secure network application SIENA.
During the implementation of S4ACA, participants communicated with each other via the Europol Platform for Experts (EPE). EPE has provided continuous and secure exchange of information, among others, between workshop meetings, seminars and conferences. EPE platform ensured that the documents, case studies, expertise and materials from the preparation stage of the meetings were available to all project participants.
In October of 2016 was held the final S4ACA conference. Within this event were presented the results of the project S4ACA and the its evaluation.
