CENTRAL ANTI-CORRUPTION BUREAU always in the interest of Poland CBA: 16 million of undue support - News -

The CBA officers from Poznań disclosed irregularities in the establishment and operation of a group of producers in the food industry. The officers have submitted a notification of the possibility of having perpetrated a criminal offence to the detriment of the State Treasury to the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Poznań. Seven persons are involved in the case.

The CBA findings indicate that in 2011 the present Deputy Marshal Krzysztof Grabowski, the then-member of the management board of the Wielkopolskie Voivodship, did not comply with his obligations by issuing a decision confirming that one of Wielkopolska companies satisfied the requirements of an initial acknowledgement as a group of fruit and vegetable producers. He took such a decision despite the fact that the group was artificially created and did not meet the requirements laid down by the law.  The information gathered indicates that the production carried out by certain members of the group was marginal, below one percent share in the total production value of the entire group. 

However, such a decision opened the door to obtaining millions of zloty of undue grants.

The notification submitted by the CBA refers to the fact that Krzysztof Grabowski acted in order to enable to obtain a financial advantage by the company.  

Actually, just after the decision on the “acknowledgement” was issued, over PLN 16 million of state grants reached the private pockets of the businessmen from Poznań.

The CBA’s suspicion of carrying out operations against the law also refers to two employees of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development at the Marshal Office, and four civil servants, including former deputy director of the Agency for Restructuring and Modernisation of Agriculture.

The CBA requested the Prosecutor's Office to entrust the investigation in its entirety to the Regional Office of the CBA in Poznań.
