The CBA investigates the re-privatization scandal in Warsaw - a businessman from Konstancin, his wife and a well-known lawyer detained. An extorted property worth 38 million zł
The agents from the CBA Regional Office in Warsaw in one of the investigations concerning irregularities at the Warsaw re-privatization detained three people: businessman Maciej M - one of the best-known buyers of decree claims to attractive land in the capital, his wife Elżbieta and a well-known Warsaw attorney Andrzej M.
The CBA officers searched the businessman's residence in Konstancin near Warsaw and the lawyer's flat in Warsaw.
The CBA investigation concerns their participation, acting jointly and in agreement in the process of taking over and extorting the tenement house and the plot at Piękna St. 15, near the Royal Route in Warsaw (Trakt Królewski), worth over 38 million zł. Currently, there are, among others, luxury apartments.
Persons detained by Warsaw CBA agents will be taken to the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw (Division for Military Affairs at Nowowiejska Street) which oversees this investigation and there the detainees will be charged.
The men detained today - a buyer of decree claims and a lawyer - were among eight persons detained by the CBA on May 11, last year and then arrested by the court decision in connection with the so-called wild re-privatization of real estate in the center of the capital, including the plot in Warsaw at Plac Defilad (Parade Square), adjacent to the Palace of Culture and Science (former address: 29 Sienna Street), at Twarda Str. 8 & 10 and at Królewska Str. 39. In addition, the CBA agents then detained, among others, two other attorneys acting as curators of heirs of real estate, son of the detained today businessman and two property appraisers entered into the court list of experts.
The CBA in case regarding irregularities at Warsaw re-privatization carries out dozens of investigations concerning nearly 200 addresses - most of them are valuable, plots worth multimillions, tenement houses.
The first detentions took place last year. And so officers of the Warsaw CBA Regional Office detained 5 persons in January, and in February another 3 persons. Among the detainees were, among others: officials, attorney Robert N. and former deputy director of the Real Property Management Office of the Capital City of Warsaw Jakub R. and parents of the official - Wojciech R. and Alina D. In the middle of May, agents detained another 8 persons, whom we mentioned above. On October 9, agents of the Warsaw CBA Regional Office detained three more persons in the case of irregularities at the Warsaw re-privatisation: former official from the Ministry of Justice Marzena K., former dean of the District Bar Council Grzegorz M. and a businessman Janusz P. The detentions were carried out in an investigation supervised by the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Wrocław in connection with a re-privatization of a plot worth about 160 million zł right next to the Palace of Culture. Most of those detained by the CBA by decision of the court were taken into custody.
The list of persons detained by the CBA and the list of prosecution charges is not closed, the investigators are constantly working on the collected evidence. New threads are being investigated.
At the end of last year, agents of the Central Anticorruption Bureau entered 20 apartments and companies - in Warsaw, Gdańsk and Kielce, and secured evidence material in investigations regarding the reactivation of 40 pre-war companies and multi-million claims to the detriment of the State Treasury.
