Detained officials of the Krakow magistrate - corruption in tenders for attractive real estate in Krakow
The CBA Regional Office in Krakow, under the supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office in Kraków, is conducting an investigation regarding invoking influences in, among others, local government administration and the Board of Municipal Buildings in Krakow and unlawful mediation in arranging the lease or purchase of apartments and commercial premises located in attractive parts of Krakow, near the market square or the Wawel Hill.
The CBA agents detained today three clerks - a director from the Kraków magistrate managing a department dealing with the city's housing stock, the head of the department from the office's treasury division, the head of one of the departments of the Municipal Building Board in Krakow and a female mediator.
Investigator's findings from the CBA and the prosecutor's office indicate that the officials in return for bribes helped in obtaining the right to commercial and residential premises in attractive places in Krakow, among others, at Szewska, Karmelicka or Mostowa Str. Bribes for officers detained today were to reach a total of several dozen thousand zlotys. Among the "gifts" were also perfumes. The events that are currently being investigated took place in years 2015-2017, and the case concerns at least a dozen of real estate: apartments, commercial premises and tenement houses.
The CBA agents are securing documents in the Krakow town magistrate.
Already earlier, 4 persons got caught by the Kraków CBA agents, among others: two middlemen, Robert F. and Małgorzata P. The agents searched the apartments of the detained intermediaries and the premises in the local government institutions. Evidence related to the case was secured there. Another person detained by the CBA - Adam K. - he was charged at the prosecutor's office with acting in agreement with other persons and granting Małgorzata P. and Robert F. financial benefit in the amount of 120,000 zł. The two in exchange for the money were to unlawfully influence persons performing public functions of ZBK, so that two public auctions for attractive apartments at Pawlikowski and Stradomska Str. would be suitably settled in favor of specific people.
Further detentions in this case may take place. The investigation is developmental and multithreaded.
