Bribe - caught in the act. Bid rigging at the Lower Silesian Center for Lung Diseases

The CBA agents from Warsaw and Wrocław detained in the act of accepting a bribe an employee from the Lower Silesian Center for Lung Diseases in Wrocław. Detention is a result of a special operation, so-called CBA's operational combination.

The CBA officers stepped into action a moment after a man standing at the gate of a tenement house, near the hospital, took a bribe - 8,000 zł in cash. After a while, he was already in the hands of the Bureau's agents. The man did not expect such a turn of events and decisive action of the CBA officers.

As the agents of the CBA who conducted the case and operation determined, for the money, the detained man - fire specialist from the Lower Silesian Center for Lung Diseases - directed the course of the tender procedure, in such manner that it was to be won by a particular company. The contract concerned construction works worth approx. 100,000 zł.

The findings of the CBA indicate, that the man invoked influences, offered the arrangement of necessary external expertise and in exchange for a bribe he handed information from the tender, he prompted what should be included in the offer to eliminate competition.

The collected materials will now be transferred to the Lower Silesian Terrain Division of the National Public Prosecutor's Office in Wrocław, where the man detained by the CBA will be charged with corruption.

The activities are ongoing and the case is developmental, further topics will be investigated.
