14th EPAC/EACN Annual Conference
The Head of the CBA Paweł Wojtunik participated in the 14th Annual Conference of the EPAC/EACN.
The Head of the Central Anticorruption Bureau was invited by the President of the European Partners against Corruption / European contact-point network against corruption Giovanni Kessler, Minister of Interior of Bulgaria Yordan Bakalow and SANS President Vladimir Pisanchev to participate in the Annual International EPAC/EACN Conference which took place on 17-18 November 2014 in Sofia (Bulgaria).
The aim of the conference was to exchange experiences and conduct dialogue between representatives of law enforcement agencies including the police and anti-corruption bodies. This year's main topics of the meeting were: "Challenges in investigating and proving cases of corruption and corrupt practices of high-ranking state officials" and "Old and new oversight tools."
Established in 2004 European Partners against Corruption (EPAC) brings together more than 60 anti-corruption institutions. The European contact-point network against corruption was established in 2008 based on EPAC. EACN bonds anti-corruption contact networks, bringing together nearly 50 state structures of the member states of the European Union. The EPAC/EACN initiative became an annual event which builds awareness of the fight against corruption among representatives of the EU countries.
Last year, the EPAC/EACN Annual Conference was held for the first time in Poland. The meeting took place in Krakow on 13-15 November 2013. It was co-organized by the Central Anticorruption Bureau and the National Police Headquarters.
