Cooperation with NABU in the fight against corruption
On 4 June 2019, the Head of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau, Ernest Bejda, together with a delegation from the CBA, has participated in the conference entitled "International Co-operation in Preventing and Fighting Corruption at Borders". The meeting was organized in Lviv by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU). Apart from Poland, the conference was attended by representatives of other services and bodies involved in combating corruption – from Slovakia, Romania, Hungary and Moldova.
The conference was organized with the support of the European Union's program for combating corruption in Ukraine (EUACI). During the meeting, the parties exchanged experiences and defined priorities and directions of further collaboration. The talks resulted in signing of a protocol on multilateral cooperation in the field of combating cross-border corruption.
In May 2016, the CBA and NABU concluded an agreement regulating the exchange of analytical information between services and the organization of joint investigative activities. The cooperation so far has brought positive results – for example in May this year, agents from the Regional Office of the CBA in Rzeszów with the help of NABU detained two persons from Poland and Ukraine, engaged in smuggling of goods worth 1,200,000 zlotys.
