8 persons detained. At least 50 million zlotys in damage to the property of the bank

At least 50 million zlotys in damage to one of the commercial banks and attempt to obtain 23 million zlotys of undue VAT tax. Eight persons detained by the CBA.

The officers of the Regional Office of the CBA in Warsaw have detained eight persons, including former presidents and members of the management board, a director and employees of a commercial bank, as well as former and current presidents of managements boards from the Masovian Voivodeship. The activities took place in connection with the proceedings conducted by the CBA under the supervision of the District Prosecutor’s Office Warsaw-Praga. This is a new investigation. It concerns a suspicion of causing material damage in the amount of at least 50 million zlotys to the property of a bank in connection with granting a loan for the purchase of an exhibition center in Opole. Everything seems to indicate that the loan was granted despite the lack of credit worthiness and establishing a special form of loan repayment security. As it was established, the repayment dates were later postponed by annexing the loan agreement, thus hiding the bank's losses.

The proceeding also includes actions to the detriment of the State Treasury by the representatives of the Mazovian company by attempting to obtain undue VAT tax in the amount of 23 million zlotys due to the fictitious transaction of acquisition of real estate in Opole.

Currently, activities involving detained people who will hear charges in the District Prosecutor's Office of Warsaw-Praga are in progress. The case is multithreaded and developmental.
