Vogt of Lesznowola detained by the CBA
Nearly 4 million zlotys damage to the municipality's assets through unpaid payment of interest on the breached contract and cancellation of tax liabilities. The vogt of the municipality of Lesznowola detained by the CBA.
This morning, the officers of the Regional Office of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau have detained the vogt of the municipality of Lesznowola. The proceedings under which the activities are carried out concerns the suspicion of abuse of powers and failure to fulfill duties by the vogt.
In the course of the activities, a material, indicating possible irregularities in the management of real estate in the municipality by concluding in 2013 and 2014 lease agreements in violation of the formal requirements described in the Act on Real Property Management, was collected. Undertaking an unjustified decision to withdraw from one of the contracts resulted in paying interest in the amount of approx. 1.3 million zlotys and thereby causing damage to the municipality’s property. Findings of the investigators point to the abuse of powers in the scope of activities undertaken as a tax authority in 2012-2015, by unjustifiable cancellation of tax liabilities for a number of related companies, in order to achieve by them a material benefit in the amount of approx. 2.6 million zlotys.
The detained vogt will be transferred to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw, where she will be charged. The investigation was initiated based on materials collected by the CBA in the course of control conducted by the Control Proceedings Department.
