Former president of Orlen detained for the second time

Six persons detained by the officers of the CBA. The case concerns a control conducted in the company in 2017 by the CBA.

The officers of the Regional Office of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau in Gdańsk conduct a multithreaded investigation regarding suspicion of  corruption-related connections between the former president of the management board of PKN Orlen S.A. with event agencies providing mass events and advertising campaigns to the company. The proceedings are conducted under the supervision of the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Łódź.

The agents of the CBA detained 6 persons into this case, including the president of the management board of Orlen S.A. in the years 2008-2015, as well as owners and members of the management boards of event agencies. The agents of the Bureau also searched the detainees' places of residence and the place where company documentation was stored.

All persons detained by the CBA were charged in the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Łódź. One of the detainees heard additional allegations regarding maladministration, other persons were charged with attesting untruth, perjury and misappropriation of property of significant value. The prosecutor ordered against all of them non-custodial preventive measures.

The case was initiated by the activities of the CBA, including a control conducted in 2017 over procedures for making and implementing decisions on disposing of property, in the scope of contracts for selected services ordered by PKN Orlen S.A.

These are subsequent detentions in this case, the investigation is still developmental.
