Prescriptions issued for dead patients
Psychiatrist from Kielce detained by the officers of the Regional Office of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau in Kraków. The investigation concerns extorting money from the National Health Fund.
The Central Anti-Corruption Bureau conducts under the supervision of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Katowice an investigation regarding the operation of an organized criminal group in Krakow consisting of doctors and pharmacists. The group, on the basis of documents attesting untruth, extorted money of significant value from the National Health Fund.
In connection with this case, a psychiatrist working in the Social Welfare Home in Kielce has been detained by the officers of the Regional Office of the CBA in Kraków.
The man is suspected of leading the National Health Fund to an unfavorable property disposal in the years 2011-2015 with the aim of achieving material benefit. As it has been determined in the course of the investigation, the doctor has issued prescriptions, including prescriptions for dead people and patients of the Social Welfare Home. In this regard, he "cooperated" with nearby pharmacies, which fictitiously carried out the sale of medicines, and thus extorted money from the National Health Fund. Medicines prescribed for patients of the Social Welfare Home never got to them because in fact they were never prescribed to them.
This is the fourth person detained in connection with this investigation.
