Detained for corruption. Almost PLN 1,9 million in bribes
Entrepreneurs from the development, transport and logistics industry, the president of the Land Transport Chamber of Commerce and the owner of a private television station and a private university in Katowice, as well as, a lecturer at this university have been detained by the CBA. The investigation concerns material benefits for over PLN 1,9 million zlotys.
Based on its own materials, the Regional Office of the CBA in Kraków conducts proceedings regarding mediation in settling matters in exchange for material benefits, as well as invoking influence in state and local government institutions of Lesser Poland and granting material benefits to persons performing public functions in connection with performing these function. Eleven suspects have already heard allegations in this case, including the former senator of the Republic of Poland of the eighth term.
In connection with this case, the officers of the CBA on the territory of Lesser Poland, Greater Poland, Masovia and Lower Silesia have detained 10 persons. As it has been determined by the investigators of the Bureau, the detainees, in exchange for material benefits, including property and financial benefits, passed directly or in the form of donations to the indicated foundations, as well as personal benefits, arranged various matters in state and local government institutions through the former senator. The evidence material collected in this part indicates that material benefits at the amount of PLN 1,9 million were passed.
Detainees, in the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Katowice, were charged with corruption, including paid protection and giving material benefits. At the same time, CBA agents searched a dozen or so places.
