Man who sold the same claims several times has been detained by the CBA

A former president of a reactivated Warsaw company has been detained for the second time by CBA officers in connection with the investigation into irregularities in Warsaw re-privatization.

The officers of the Regional Office of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau in Warsaw have detained the former president of the reactivated Warsaw company. The man was detained in May this year in connection with irregularities in Warsaw's re-privatization. Then he received non-custodial supervision measures. Despite this, he did not pay a surety and did not appear at the prosecutor's request.

The activities conducted by the agents of the CBA are connected with an investigation regarding attempts to extort multi-million compensation from the Capital City of Warsaw in connection with the implementation of claims on real estate due to the company. In the course of the investigation, it has been established that the company sold to two people claims on the property at the crossroad of Książęca, Smolna and Herbert streets. This sale was the result of fraud, as previously claims were transferred to another entity controlled by the suspect, and the buyers were not informed about it. In this way, funds in the amount of PLN 175 thousand were collected. Then the president took action to hide the criminal origin of those funds, which he ordered to pay out on his behalf.

After completing the activities, the man was transferred to the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Wrocław, where he was charged.

The officers from the Regional Office of the CBA in Warsaw are conducting at the moment, under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office, 70 investigations connected with crimes related to re-privatization in Warsaw, which relate to nearly 200 properties, and about 40 persons have already heard allegations. The value of damages in this respect was estimated at over PLN 3 billion. In September 2019, the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Wrocław issued a sixth indictment in connection with these multi-threaded proceedings.
