Detained for corruption
The officers of the Regional Office of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau in Gdańsk have detained three businessmen against whom tax enforcement proceedings have been conducted.
In the course of the investigation, it has been established that two of the detainees transferred a Porsche and a BMW to a civil servant of the Tri-City (Trójmiasto) tax office. In December 2018, the CBA detained the civil servant due to the acceptance of a financial advantage in connection with the performance of a public function.
The third individual will be presented with charges of giving a bribe to the civil servant in the amount of over PLN 120 thousand. The total amount of the financial advantages given by the detainees is over PLN 600 thousand.
The investigation covers a few aspects. It is another operation and further detentions to this effect. In this case, apart from the court bailiff, two men from Tri-City (Trójmiasto) were previously presented with charges of issuing fraudulent invoices for the total amount of PLN 1.3 million, in order to lower VAT receivables.
The officers have searched the places of residence of the detainees, and secured the documents which constitute the evidence in the case.
The detainees will be taken to the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Gdańsk.
