Detained for corruption
Favourable treatment in public procurement. Four persons detained, including two civil servants.
The officers of the Regional Office of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau in Rzeszów have detained four persons in Zamojszczyzna, including two inspectors for public procurement and investment, employed in the Municipal Office of the Zamojski district, and two owners of companies operating in the construction and transport industries. The investigation concerns the abuse of powers, the failure to comply with obligations, and the acceptance of financial advantages.
In the course of proceedings, information was obtained indicating that the civil servants were given financial advantages in exchange for favourable treatment in the award and execution of public contracts. All findings indicate that the criminal practice took place in the years 2018 -2019.
The detainees will be presented with charges in the District Prosecutor's Office in Lublin. The CBA officers have searched the places of residence and the workplaces of the detainees, in order to secure items which could constitute evidence of the criminal offences.
The investigation was instigated on the basis of materials collected by the Department for the Fight Against Economic Crime of the Municipal Police in Zamość.
