The Central Anti-Corruption Bureau detained another person within the investigation into corruption in the District Governor’s Office in Wołomin.
Near Warsaw, the officers of the CBA Regional Office in Warsaw detained an entrepreneur operating in real property development. The woman was presented with charges in the District Prosecutor's Office for Warszawa-Praga. The evidence gathered indicates that the detainee handed a financial advantage in the amount of over PLN 20,000 to the person relying on the influence in the local government institution.
These are further investigations into this matter. The first operations took place in February and July of this year. So far, among the seven detainees were: former civil servants of the District Governor’s Office in Wołomin, the District Inspectorate of Building Supervision in Wołomin, and entrepreneurs operating in real property development in the vicinity of Warsaw.
The criminal activity consisted in receiving financial advantages by the civil servants of the District Governor’s Office in Wołomin and the District Building Inspectorate in Wołomin, who carried out official activities within administrative procedures concerning construction investments. The financial advantages were given by the investors both at the stage of issuing construction decisions and the acceptance of the facilities for use. The investigators' findings indicate that in addition to the civil servants of the district governor’s office, private individuals and companies operating in real property development, with construction investments located in the district of Wołomin, were involved in the corruption practice.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
