Detentions within the investigation into corruption in the District Governor’s Office

Three individuals detained by the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau within the investigation into corruption in the District Governor’s Office in Wołomin.

The officers of the Regional Office of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau in Warsaw detained three individuals involved in corruption in the District Governor’s Office in Wołomin. Among the detainees are: former civil servants of the District Governor’s Office in Wołomin and the District Inspectorate of Building Supervision in Wołomin, as well as an entrepreneur operating in the real property development in the vicinity of Warsaw. The criminal activity consisted in receiving financial advantages by the civil servants of the District Governor’s Office in Wołomin and the District Building Inspectorate in Wołomin, who carried out official activities within administrative procedures concerning construction investments. The financial advantages were given by the investors both at the stage of issuing construction decisions and the acceptance of the facilities for use. The investigators' findings indicate that in addition to the civil servants from the district governor’s office, private individuals and companies operating in real property development, with construction investments located in the district of Wołomin, were involved in the corrupt practice.

In the District Prosecutor's Office for Warszawa-Praga, the detainees were charged with corruption. The evidence gathered indicates that the total amount of advantages accepted by the detainees reaches approximately PLN 60 thousand. The third of the suspects handed one of the civil servants of the Construction Department of the District Governor’s Office in Wołomin a financial advantage of PLN 13 thousand.

The first detentions within these proceedings took place in February this year. Four individuals were then detained.
