One million in bribes for a prosecutor
A one-million bribe and a number of personal advantages given to a prosecutor. The man has been detained by the CBA officers following the decision of the Disciplinary Chamber of the Supreme Court to waive his immunity.
By order of the Department of Internal Affairs of the National Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw, the officers of the Regional Office of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau in Warsaw have detained the prosecutor of the Praga Północ District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw. The activities are connected with the investigation into the acceptance of financial and personal advantages in connection with the performance of a public function. The evidence gathered so far indicates that one million zlotys and a number of personal advantages have been given to the prosecutor of the District Prosecutor's Office of Praga Północ in Warsaw - shirts, tickets for a football match between Poland and Israel during Euro 2019, alcohol, sponsored meals. In exchange for the gratuities, the prosecutor breached the law by revoking a remand of a murder suspect, contrary to the existence of grounds for its continued application, and by creating false evidence of te suspect's innocence and passing on information resulting from the investigation.
The detainee will face charges in the National Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw.
