Unfavourable agreements on the sale of coal

The former vice-president of the management board of Węglokoks Kraj and two former proxies of the company have been detained by the CBA officers. Contracts for the sale of coal and detriment to the company's property of over PLN 28 million.

The officers of the CBA Regional Office in Katowice have detained three former employees of Węglokoks Kraj, including the former vice-president of the board and two former proxies. The operation took place in the Silesian Voivodeship. After the searches were completed, the detainees were taken to the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Katowice, where they were charged with acting to the detriment of the company.

The investigators' findings indicate that the detainees had failed to perform their duties and abused their powers as company managers in connection with the conclusion of 3 contracts for the sale of coal (coal dust), as a result of which the company's property was detrimentally affected to the amount of over PLN 28 million. All indications point to the fact that the agreements have been concluded on conditions disadvantageous for the company for three years.

The prosecutor applied non-custodial preventive measures against the detainees.

This is the first operation in this investigation. The proceedings are developing and further detentions are not excluded.
