Europol - official opening of an exhibition dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the CBA

An exhibition dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau was opened in the headquarters of Europol (European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation) in The Hague. It is a special event for the Bureau, as it is the first exhibition presented by the CBA at Europol.

On behalf of Europol, the ceremony was attended by the Head of the European Financial and Economic Crime Centre Burkhard Mühl, persons working for the Agency on a daily basis, representatives of the Polish Liaison Office at Europol and a delegation of the CBA.

The event was held under the patronage of the Head of the CBA, Andrzej Stróżny, who handed over a letter read out at the opening of the exhibition by the Director of the Cabinet of the Head of the CBA Paweł Rutkowski, who coordinated the organisation of the exhibition.

The Head of the CBA expressed his thanks for the opportunity to present the areas of the CBA's work to international partners. He also drew attention to the symbolic nature of the location of the exhibition, as Europol plays a key role in supporting the law enforcement agencies of the Member States in their efforts to eliminate crime. At the same time, he emphasised the importance of everyday cooperation in the international area.

On this occasion, it is worth recalling that the CBA cooperates with Europol on a daily basis by exchanging operational and non-operational information for the needs of its units. Together with the Austrian Federal Bureau of Anti-Corruption (BAK), it implemented the project "SIENA for Anti-Corruption Authorities (S4ACA)”, supported by the EU Programme "Prevention of and Fight against Crime 2007-2013" (ISEC). The top priority of the project was to enhance the exchange of information via Europol's Secure Information Exchange Network Application (SIENA) between the anti-corruption authorities of the Member States. In February 2021, with the support of the Polish and German liaison offices at Europol and Europol's analytical support, the CBA dismantled an international criminal group. The losses to the State Treasury due to the fraud committed so far have been estimated at nearly PLN 80 million. Twelve persons have been detained in Poland and Germany.
