Cooperation with FBI

The CBA cooperates with numerous international organisations and law enforcement authorities from other countries. So far, the Bureau has obtained approval for cooperation with 54 countries and 13 international organisations. One of the services cooperating with the CBA is the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

This year, the Head of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau Andrzej Stróżny has met top-level representatives of the Federal Bureau of Investigation twice.

At the turn of July and August of this year, during his delegation to the USA, the Head of the CBA visited the FBI Deputy Director at the Bureau Headquarters in Washington.  The undertaking comprised a series of meetings with the management and agents of individual regional offices of the FBI in the territory of the USA aimed at exchanging experiences, good practices in the scope of the tasks performed, investigative methods and techniques used as well as ongoing cooperation.

On 2 November 2021, a meeting between the FBI Delegation and the CBA Management was held at the CBA main office in Aleje Ujazdowskie in Warsaw.

On behalf of the CBA, the meeting was attended by the Head of the CBA Andrzej Stróżny, Deputy Heads of the CBA Daniel Karpeta and Bogdan Sakowicz as well as representatives of the Head's Cabinet, the Analysis Department and the Operations and Investigations Department. The U.S. delegation included FBI Director Christopher A. Wray, Deputy Head of the FBI Director's Office Scott McCullough, Special Advisor to the FBI Director Sherri Onks, FBI Liaison Officer to Poland Michael Malsch, and FBI Deputy Liaison Officer to Poland Matthew Winn.

The meeting in Warsaw was a continuation of talks commenced in the USA and a platform for further discussion and exchange of views on strengthening cooperation in preventing and combating corruption and economic crime, thus combining efforts in the fight against these phenomena.

The meeting highlighted that corruption is taking increasingly sophisticated and camouflaged forms, with criminals adapting their actions to the circumstances surrounding the functioning of the economy, including the COVID-19 pandemic. It is therefore increasingly important to strengthen and intensify inter-service cooperation, including broader exchange of information and insights on observed trends, training and joint operations.
