Four entrepreneurs have been apprehended in Mazovia and Pomerania by officers of the CBA Regional Office in Warsaw. The activities took place in connection with an ongoing investigation concerning the so-called "printing house of blank invoices" operating in the Mazowieckie Voivodeship in the years 2016 - 2018. The investigation is conducted under the supervision of the District Public Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw and concerns the issuance of almost 1500 invoices, worth up to PLN 23 million. The investigators' findings indicate that the documents did not confirm real economic events.

The detainees faced charges of issuing fraudulent invoices and attestation of an untruth as to the factual circumstances that could be of significance for the determination of the amount of public and legal receivables or their return.

Following the completion of procedural activities, the prosecutor applied against all suspects preventive measures in the form of police supervision, the prohibition to leave the country combined with the confiscation of passports, as well as property surety. 

They are suspected of using invoices concerning fictitious transactions to decrease the amount of tax due to be paid by the suspects - who conduct business activities - to the appropriate tax office. The analysis of the evidence confirms that the scale of issuing unreliable VAT invoices amounts to tens of millions of zlotys and the blank invoices were received by over a dozen entrepreneurs from the Mazowieckie Voivodeship. In the course of the proceedings, the officers of the CBA Regional Office in Warsaw retrieved accounting and tax documentation of entities that used blank invoices.

It is the first operation carried out in connection with this investigation conducted by the Regional Office in Warsaw and the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw.
