Arrest and charges against a former attorney
A former attorney has been detained by the CBA in a new investigation into invoking influence in the administration of justice.
The CBA Regional Office in Białystok, in cooperation with the Local Division of the Department for Organised Crime and Corruption at the National Prosecutor's Office, has been conducting a multi-thread investigation concerning, among others invoking influence in the administration of justice.
Within this thread of the case one person has been detained - a former lawyer.
As it has been established in the course of the proceedings, on several occasions, the detained man accepted financial advantages and promises thereof, and he accepted PLN 140,000 in cash out of the PLN 320,000 promised to him. In return, he undertook to successfully complete the proceedings conducted by the prosecutor's office and courts.
In his criminal activities, the man invoked influences, connections and acquaintances he allegedly had in the prosecutor's office, which turned out to be untrue.
In the premises of Podlaskie Voivodeship Department of the National Public Prosecutor's Office, the detainee was charged with invoking influence. The court applied a preventive measure against the detainee in the form of remand in custody for 3 months.
This is a new investigation conducted by the CBA Regional Office in Białystok in cooperation with the National Prosecutor's Office. The investigation was initiated on the basis of the CBA's own materials. The case is under development.
