Nowogard local government official detained by CBA

A local government official, detained by the CBA, has faced charges of corruption and possession of ammunition without the required permit. The investigation is underway.

Officers of the Regional Office of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau in Szczecin have detained the deputy mayor of Nowogard. At the same time, a number of places were searched, including the detainee's place of residence, the Municipal Office in Nowogard and the Management of Municipal Buildings in Nowogard, to secure documents and data carriers which could constitute evidence for the investigation.

The activities were carried out by order of the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Szczecin in connection with the pending proceedings.

The detainee was taken to the prosecutor's office, where he was charged with demanding a personal gain of a sexual nature and, having been refused, accepting a financial advantage in exchange for conduct in breach of the law. In addition, he heard another charge of accepting a personal gain of a sexual nature in connection with the performance of his function.

As the search of the detainee's residence revealed ammunition for a firearm, for which he did not have a permit, the charges were extended by his possession of ammunition without the required permit.

The prosecutor in charge of the investigation submitted a request for remand in custody for the suspect, to the District Court of Szczecin Prawobrzeże and Zachód.
