Half a million bribe for contract with the NFZ (National Health Fund)
A private medical company from Silesia (region of Poland) wanted to get a favorable contract with the NFZ. A huge bribe handed to a high official of the NFZ was supposed to help. The detained did not expect that the anti-corruption services can fall on the trail of the illegal transaction. The detainees stopped by the agents of the Regional Office of the CBA in Katowice have already heard the charges. The case is in progress.
Officers of the Regional Office of the CBA in Katowice, who were acting on request of the Appellate Prosecutor's Office in Katowice, detained three persons in the investigation of accepting bribes in connection with the performance of public functions.
One of the detainees is a high official of the National Health Fund. The prosecutor charged him with accepting a bribe of 515,000 PLN. In return for the money, the official managed to get a contract from the National Health Fund for one of the Silesian medical companies.
The charge of awarding financial benefits was brought to the representative of a private medical company and an intermediary of the transaction. After the charges were brought against the detainees, bail bonds were applied in amounts from 5,000 up to 100,000 PLN. The suspects may face a penalty of imprisonment up to 12 years . The case is in process.
