Corrupt connections – four people detained
CBA officers detained three women and a man in Poznań. In the background there’s personal benefits, abuse of authority, disclosure of official information and acting to the detriment of the public interest. The case concerns the issuance of alcohol sales permits. The investigation is being conducted by the Poznań-Wilda District Prosecutor's Office in Poznań.
On 15th January 2025, officers of the CBA Branch Office in Poznań detained a man who was supposed to provide personal benefits and, possibly, also financial benefits to female officials from the Poznań City Hall. The investigation findings indicate that the man was supposed to influence the course of issuing alcohol sales licenses for agents of a popular chain of small grocery stores.
As part of the procedural activities, 3 female officials were detained, who in exchange for personal benefits were supposed to issue administrative decisions based on applications that did not meet formal requirements. As established, there is a suspicion that alcohol sales permits were issued to selected entrepreneurs in accelerated terms and out of turn. The detained female officials were also supposed to have disclosed information constituting official secrets to an unauthorized person - thus acting to the detriment of the public and private interests of other entrepreneurs who applied for permits.
At the headquarters of the Poznań City Hall, the Municipal Commission for Solving Alcohol Problems in Poznań and other locations, CBA officers secured evidence in the case of alcohol sales permits issued.
Prosecutor of the Poznań-Wilda District Prosecutor's Office presented the detainees with, among other things, corruption charges. The prosecutor applied non-custodial preventive measures against the suspects in the form of police supervision, consisting of a ban on approaching to a distance of less than 50 meters and a ban on contact with other suspects, as well as financial bail.
