Detentions at Dolna Odra Power Plant. Corruption
The officers from the Regional Office of the CBA in Szczecin have detained a manager, three inspectors, and a businessman due to corruption acts committed in the course of the renovation and modernisation of infrastructure elements of the Dolna Odra Power Plant. The proceedings cover activities related to assets with a substantial value.
Along with the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Szczecin, the Regional Office of the CBA in Szczecin has been carrying out an investigation into an acceptance of financial advantages by persons employed at the PGE GiEK S.A. Division of the Dolna Odra Power Plant in Nowy Czarnów. The case pertains to the so-called managerial corruption and acceptance of advantages in exchange for determination of the manner of the contractor selection, implementation of the selection procedures, supervision over the implementation of works, and the delivery of the contract.
Previously, the CBA officers from Szczecin secured data media devices and documentation in almost 40 places: the offices and apartments belonging to the persons connected with the accomplishment of the renovations and investments at the Dolna Odra Power Plant.
This week, in a further stage of the investigation, the CBA officers have detained a supervising manager and three inspectors from the Dolna Odra Power Plant in Nowy Czarnów, and a businessman. The detainees have faced allegations of an abuse of their powers, non-compliance with their obligations, file tampering, and managerial corruption. The investigative activities are underway in the Regional Office of the CBA in Szczecin.
It is worth mentioning that the Dolna Odra Power Plant assigns PLN 50-70 million annually for renovation, and in the years 2007-2013 it amounted to PLN 700 million.
The proceedings cover activities related to assets with a substantial value.
